The wood used in the model construction is especially balsa (light pieces), samba (formworks), pine (skids), multiplex (pieces with higher resistance).
Fiberglass, carbon and kevlar, imbued with epoxy resin or polyester admits to realise castings, such as reinforcements of the structure. Many fuselages are moulded in fiberglass, carbon is used to strengthen zones, which have larger forces. The noses and wheel arch frames are also often cast in fiberglass.
